Soundproofing
Stopping sound travelling between rooms or between inside and outside through mass, decoupling and sealing.
Explanation
Isolation relies on heavy materials, separate layers, sealed gaps and treatment of flanking paths such as suspended ceilings and ducts. Performance is expressed with ratings such as Rw and STC.
Light absorptive panels do not soundproof; they are interior treatment tools.
