Hearing loop
Coverage of the accessible seat, metal loss, and why the loop is not added on opening night.

What a loop actually does
A hearing loop is a magnetic field picked up by a hearing aid in the T position, so speech arrives without the room’s echo and without a separate earpiece if the aid supports the mode. It is not a broadcast to the whole crowd. Its scope is the seats that were covered, usually the accessible seats and their companions, not a symbolic line around the building.
Metal in the slab, in a carpet with metallic thread, or in a steel stand changes the field. Draw the loop before the floor finish, not on top of it on opening night. Test with someone in the intended seat, not at the door where the rack looks better.
Final figures come from the drawing, the current manufacturer datasheet and a test of the room. This page is a design method, not a performance certificate and not a price.
Alternatives, named plainly
If metal makes a loop impractical, infrared and radio systems are known alternatives. Each has a limit: infrared does not pass a wall and needs a line of sight to the radiator; radio needs frequency coordination so it does not collide with wireless microphones. We do not pick an alternative because the name is newer. We pick what reaches the intended seat in this building.
Coordination sequence
The system follows the room: an array for a long throw if the roof can carry it and it does not mask the screen, a point source for a short room, a box or a booth, a subwoofer where low frequency is missing, and a hearing loop where the person who needs it sits.
Front fill and under-balcony fill are lines when an acoustic shadow exists. Tune after the seats are in. On a steel stand, vibration transfer is reviewed. Metal in the floor is reviewed before a loop is accepted.
We do not claim a factory agency. The brand is locked after the test and named as in its datasheet. A sound system is not bought to compensate for a room that was neither isolated nor treated.
This clause goes into the bill of quantities, with the signatory and the date of the test after installation: Covered seats drawn, not the phrase “the whole audience” without a plan.
This clause goes into the bill of quantities, with the signatory and the date of the test after installation: A test after the final floor and the metal that actually exists.
This clause goes into the bill of quantities, with the signatory and the date of the test after installation: No clash with wireless microphones without frequency coordination.
Mistakes that repeat
- A loop over a metallic carpet in the last week.
- A rack at the entrance and the intended audience in the middle.
Questions about this type
Does the loop replace the sound system?
No. The loop takes a feed from the system and carries it to the aid. If the feed is already unclear, the loop delivers that lack of clarity cleanly. It is checked after speech is tuned, not before.
Catalogue seats coordinated with this type
The seats shown are catalogue families in their own photographs, chosen with this type on the drawing, not from a separate picture.
- Line arrayWhen an array is hung, what it does not cover, and why it is tuned with seats in the room.
- Point sourceFor a box, a lecture room and a booth: fewer cabinets, clearer aim, simpler maintenance.
- SubwoofersPlacement, resonance with steel, and the difference between energy in the room and energy next door.
