Steel grandstands

Demountable grandstand

Numbered parts, an exit drawn before tickets are sold, and a rebuild that is not luck.

Demountable grandstand — stadium seating by BOXTECH
A photograph from the published archive of halls, grounds and seats. It is not a generated image, and it does not mean BoxTech O2mea built the project.

Temporary is not less safe

A tournament or event stand may stand for days and carry a full audience. Being temporary does not reduce the load and does not cancel an exit. Parts are numbered so each element returns to its place next time. A seat without a crate number is lost between two cities. The exit and the width are drawn before the ticket is printed, not after the crush.

The ground it stands on may be asphalt, soil or an exhibition slab. A catalogue fixing on ideal concrete does not describe this site. An engineer reviews the fixing that exists. We stop the seat being bought on the assumption of a floor that is not there.

Final figures come from the drawing, the current manufacturer datasheet and a test of the room. This page is a design method, not a performance certificate and not a price.

Coordination sequence

Name the type before buying the seat: fixed stays, telescopic closes, outdoor is exposed, demountable is rebuilt. Each constrains seat depth, material and fixing differently.

Aisle, guardrail and accessible seat are on the drawing, not in a permit margin. Aisle width is after the arm. Load and fixing are signed by a structural engineer for the ground that exists. We do not publish a steel thickness.

The spare is a hinge, not a whole row. Galvanizing is reviewed after site cuts. A telescopic stand does not move with people on it. A demountable stand’s capacity is not sold before the exit is accepted.

This clause goes into the bill of quantities, with the signatory and the date of the test after installation: Part numbers and a match at every rebuild.

Mistakes that repeat

  • Selling the capacity before the aisle is drawn.

Questions about this type

Is demountable always cheaper than fixed?

No. Transport, storage, repeated erection and a check before every event are costs. It can be cheaper for a site that moves, and more expensive for a site that stays. Compare the cycle of use, not the steel price on day one.

Catalogue seats coordinated with this type

The seats shown are catalogue families in their own photographs, chosen with this type on the drawing, not from a separate picture.
